MARY POPPINS RETURNS on X'mas!

Singapore - MARY POPPINS RETURNS (PG) officially opens on Christmas (Tuesday) after a weekend of previews.

Debuts on Thursday include THE POSSESSION OF HANNAH GRACE (NC16), DRAGON BALL SUPER: BROLY (PG13), TAKE POINT (NC16) (Cathay cinemas), MIA AND THE WHITE LION (PG) (Shaw screens) and BACKTRACE (PG13) (Lido exclusive).

Sneaks include INSTANT FAMILY (NC16), SUZZANNA: BERNAPAS DALAM KUBUR / BURIED ALIVE (M18) (Cathay, WE cinemas) and I WANT TO EAT YOUR PANCREAS (PG) (FilmGarde cinemas).

On the arts circuit, GIRL (R21) debuts at GV Paya Lebar on 28 and 29 December.

BUMBLEBEE takes off island wide

Singapore - BUMBLEBEE (PG13) opens wide following a week of previews. Premium options include 3D and IMAX 3D.

MASTER Z: THE IP MAN LEGACY 叶问外传:张天志 (PG13 Edited) kicks off as the 16th edited release this year, and the 6th in which an edited version is released in lieu of an uncut version with a tighter rating.

ONCE UPON A DEADPOOL (PG13), a re-cut version of DEADPOOL 2 with new scenes returns on selected screens; while BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY SING-ALONG (M18) replaces the regular version. 

CITIES OF LAST THINGS 幸福城市 (R21), which opened the recently concluded 29th Singapore International Film Festival opens at The Cathay, Orchard Cineleisure and the Projector.

AQUAMAN kicks off with US$2.3m; SPIDER-VERSE with US$584K

Singapore - AQUAMAN (PG13) swims into the no. 1 spot with an estimated US$2,303,110. Premium options include 3D and IMAX 3D.

SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE (PG) webs in at no. 2 with US$230,136 from 35 screens. Its cume including previews is US$584,850.

MORE THAN BLUE 比悲伤更悲伤的故事 (PG13) (8 Cathay screens) is the other sole top ten debut; ANNA AND THE APOCALYPSE (M18) (6 Shaw screens) and THREE WORDS TO FOREVER (PG) (4 GV screens) are the other new releases.

Among holdovers, RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET: WRECK-IT-RALPH 2 (PG) has grossed US$2,348,138.

AQUAMAN and SPIDER-MAN battle at box office

Over at the Projector, SORRY TO BOTHER YOU (R21) starts on 14 Dec (Fri); THEY SHALL NOT GROW OLD (PG13) is scheduled to play on 15 & 16 Dec.

MORTAL ENGINES debuts at no. 1

Singapore - MORTAL ENGINES (PG) grossed US$377,627 from 34 screens for a no. 1 debut. Add in previews and the cume stands at US$456,878. Premium options include 3D and IMAX 3D.

WIDOWS (NC16) collects an estimated US$80,292 for a no. 7 start. Also making a top ten debut is UNSTOPPABLE (PG13) (7 screens).

ROBIN HOOD is top debut but misses #1

Singapore - RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET: WRECK-IT-RALPH 2 (PG) spends a 2nd weekend at no. 1. The Disney pic has grossed US$1,586,306 to date.

ROBIN HOOD (PG13) is the highest debut with US$265,274 from 28 screens. THE GRINCH (PG) opens across 32 screens, grossing US$276,011 including previews.

CREED II (PG13), POLIS EVO 2 (NC16), THE DEVIL FISH (estimated US$46,602) and SINK OR SWIM (NC16) (Lido and The Projector) are the other top 10 debuts.

LAST LETTER 你好,之华 (PG) (Orchard, AMK Hub) and LONDON FIELDS (M18 Edited) (Lido, nex) also start. LONDON FIELDS is the 15th edited film of the year.
