CRUELLA arrives in cinemas

Singapore - CRUELLA (PG) sneaked on Wednesday (May 26) and opens wide on Thursday (May 27). It's the only new release this week as the country enters a third week of heightened alert due to Covid-19. The Disney pic starring Emma Stone is also available on Disney+ with Premium Access. 

From May 31, the Projector will close its screens until June 13 to ride out the current restrictions. Filmgarde Cineplexes had already voluntarily closed all three of its cineplexes on May 18 as a temporary measure. 

MINAMATA is sole wide release

Singapore - MINAMATA (NC16) is the sole wide release as Singapore enters its second weekend of Covid-19 heightened measures. STRAY (NC16) is the only other new release, playing exclusively at the Projector.

FAST & FURIOUS 9 (PG13) was originally slated to sneak this weekend but has been postponed to June 24. Warner Bros. has also delayed the local release of THE CONJURING: THE DEVIL MADE ME DO IT (NC16) and IN THE HEIGHTS (PG) to July 1 and 8 respectively.  

The latest measures have also led to Filmgarde Cineplexes closing all three of its cineplexes temporarily from May 18. The Projector also announced it will close both its locations from May 31 through to June 13. 

SISTER opens as Singapore heads towards tighter Covid-19 measures

Singapore - SISTER (PG13) is the widest release as the country heads towards tighter Covid-19 measures starting May 16 (Sun). With Jewel Changi Airport's mandated 14-day closure from May 13 (Thu), Shaw Theatres Jewel will also be temporarily closed. 

Other debuts this weekend include GREAT WHITE (PG13), 77 HEARTWARMINGS (PG) and SPIRAL (R21).

NINE DAYS (PG13) opens exclusively at the Projector. 

THOSE WHO WISH ME DEAD leads new releases

Singapore - THOSE WHO WISH ME DEAD (NC16) leads the new releases that include HOME SWEET HOME (PG13) and MY LOVE (PG13), two films that opened over China's Labour Day weekend.

Other debuts include A TRIP WITH YOUR WIFE (PG13), Gavin Lin's follow up to MORE THAN BLUE and WAY DOWN (PG13). Sally Potter's THE ROADS NOT TAKEN (PG13) opens exclusively at Lido.

SISTER (PG13), another current blockbuster at the China box office sneaks over the weekend.

This weekend, new Covid-19 restrictions will be implemented to restrict cinema capacities from May 8 to 30.
