Singapore - The TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES hold on to the no. 1 spot for a 2nd weekend as it picks up another US$678,355 for a US$2,532,988 total to date.
THE EXPENDABLES 3 is the week's highest debut with US$634,544 from 42 screens and a US$15,108 screen average. Throw in sneaks and it has collected US$778,265 to date. In comparison, the original action stars ensemble flick opened in 2010 with US$612,711 from 29 screens for a stronger US$21,128 screen average; while the sequel in 2012 began with US$982,183 and a more muscular US$25,847 screen average from 38 screens.
Other debuts this week include the espionage thriller A MOST WANTED MAN starring the late Philip Seymour Hoffman in one of his final roles (US$45,025 / 7 screens); horror flick WER (US$34,796 / 8 screens); Woody Allen's MAGIC IN THE MOONLIGHT (US$33,033 / 8 screens); THE POSSESSION OF MICHAEL KING (US$15,362 / 4 screens); Richard Linklater's BOYHOOD (US$14,369 / 2 screens) and Indonesian biopic SOEKARNO (figures unavailable / 1 screen).
Meanwhile, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY crossed the US$4m mark. It has now grossed US$4,074,908 and is currently the 5th highest grossing film of the year behind TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION (US$8,592,722), X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST (US$7,436,466), THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 (US$7,118,537) and CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER (US$6,012,468).
Overall, the Top 10 films grossed US$2,171,380 - which is a 32.9% dip from the last weekend, and a 9.15% increase from the same frame a year ago when ELYSIUM debut at no. 1.
