INTRUDER breaks into cinemas

Singapore - INTRUDER (NC16) leads a pack of debuts that include A CHOO (PG13), BIG FOOT FAMILY (PG), THE RENTAL (NC16) and VIVARIUM (M18).

Five local films also return to the silver screen for a limited run at Cathay cinemas: 4 LOVE (PG), LONG LONG TIME AGO (PG13), LONG LONG TIME AGO 2 (PG13), THAT GIRL IN PINAFORE (PG13) and ZOMBIEPURA (PG13).

SG Cinemas reopen on 13 July

Singapore - Cinemas reopen on Monday with limitations to seating capacity due to the current pandemic.

THE BRIDGE CURSE (NC16), LOW SEASON (PG13), ESCAPE FROM PRETORIA (PG), IMPETIGORE (M18) and MR. JONES (M18) open on Monday alongside older titles - some of which had their run cut shot due to the closures in March.

TRAIN TO BUSAN: PENINSULA (NC16) will be the widest new film when it opens this Wednesday (15 July) island wide.

Specialty releases include MY HERO ACADEMIA: HEROES RISING (PG13) from 13 July; FAMILY ROMANCE, LLC from 15 July and DIGIMON ADVENTURE - LAST EVOLUTION KIZUNA (PG) from 16 July.

There is currently no news as to when Carnival Cinemas will reopen.

BLOODSHOT remains at #1 for 2nd Week

Singapore - BLOODSHOT (PG13) reigns at the top for a second weekend with US$119,134 from 65 screens for a US$454,067 cume.

Meanwhile, TROLLS WORLD TOUR (PG) remains in second place with US$98,183 from 34 screens for a US$308,713 total after two weeks. 

PEE NAK 2 (PG13) and GUNS AKIMBO (M18) are the only two new entries in the top ten at no. 5 and no. 10 respectively.

GUNS AKIMBO leads debuts in quiet week

Singapore - With scheduled releases from Hollywood and India being held back, the widest new film this week is GUNS AKIMBO (M18).

Other releases include PEE NAK 2 (PG13), AI AMOK (PG13) and the animated SAMSAM (PG).

At the Projector, SORRY WE MISSED YOU (NC16) begins its run.

Clover Films has also brought back the following titles for a limited run at 6 selected Golden Village cinemas: THE ODD FAMILY: ZOMBIE ON SALE (PG13), TRAIN TO BUSAN (NC16) and RAMPANT (NC16).

Singapore - ONWARD (PG) starts at no. 1 with US$164,459. This contrasts sharply with the box office a year ago when CAPTAIN MARVEL (PG13) debut with an estimated US$3.04m.

Other top ten debuts include KAIJI: FINAL GAME (PG13) and HOWLING VILLAGE (NC16) at no. 7 and 8 respectively; and EMMA (PG) at no. 9 with US$15,419 from 7 screens, including previews.

THE INVISIBLE MAN (M18) steals US$132,243 in its second weekend from 33 screens for a US$358,481 cume.

A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD (PG) kicks off at the Projector with US$4,423.

BIRDS remain at no. 1, PARASITE shoots up to no. 2

Singapore - BIRDS OF PREY (AND THE FANTABULOUS EMANCIPATION OF ONE HARLEY QUINN) (NC16) tops the box office for a second weekend.

After winning four Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director, PARASITE (M18) gets a wider release and shoots up to the no. 2 spot. It's reported to have grossed an estimated US$194K (S$270K) for a US$811K (S$1.13m) cume.

FANTASY ISLAND (NC16) is the highest debut at no. 3 with US$101,892 from 34 screens.

BIRDS OF PREY unleashed island wide

M4M4 (NC16) opens at eight Cathay cinemas while SI MANIS JEMBATAN ANCOL (M18) kicks off on seven Golden Village screens.

The black and white version of PARASITE (M18) opens on limited screens from 10 February, Monday.

BAD BOYS pushes FAT DRAGON off no. 1 spot

Singapore - BAD BOYS FOR LIFE (NC16) swap with ENTER THE FAT DRAGON (PG13) to become the new no. 1 of the weekend. BAD BOYS grossed US$168,238 from 44 theatres for a US$674,757 cume.

UNDERWATER (PG13) is the top debut at no. 3, with US$128,238 for a US$210,867 cume including Lunar New Year previews. BOMBSHELL (NC16 Edited) is the other debut at no. 6 with a gross of US$69,420 from 20 screens.

THE LIGHTHOUSE (M18) is a Projector exclusive and opens with US$5,809 and a US$6,991 cume.

Singapore - ENTER THE FAT DRAGON (PG13) beats BAD BOYS FOR LIFE (NC16) to become the top film over the Lunar New Year weekend. DRAGON grossed an estimated US$639,577 from 45 prints while BAD BOYS took US$346,488 from 44 screens.

ALL'S WELL ENDS WELL 2020 (PG13) is the second highest grossing Lunar New Year title, with an estimated US$67,415 from 20 screens.

SECRET ZOO (PG13) also managed a no. 8 debut while PARASITE (M18) returns to the chart at no. 10
