SINGAPORE - The top 3 films remain unchanged with TAKEN spending a 3rd week at no. 1 and LOOPER and SINISTER maintaining their positions at no. 2 and 3 respectively.
TAKEN 2 grossed another US$306,189 to push its total to US$2,845,122 for a still going strong screen average of US$8,275. It is now the 9th highest grossing film of 2012. LOOPER and SINISTER both enter their second week with gentle declines. LOOPER also has the week's 2nd highest screen average with a strong $12,691 from 17 screens. Its total gross now stands at US$625,795. Meanwhile, SINISTER has scared up a total of US$475,285.
Also in its second week, THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER not only achieves the rare feat of improving on its box office performance, it scores the week's highest screen average of US$13,473. The film garners another US$94,311 from 7 screens for a total of US$215,039 to date.
The highest debut of the week also has the lowest screen average amongst new releases. END OF WATCH, which is cut for the Singapore release collects US$116,049 for a so-so screen average of US$4,298 on 27 screens. THE DINOSAUR PROJECT roars in with a stronger US$7,588 screen average and a US$98,644 total from 13 screens.
Other debuts include HIT & RUN (US$86,521), SOAR INTO THE SUN (US$59,550), ROAD TO NINJA: NARUTO THE MOVIE (US$22,916) and FAIRY TALE: PRIESTESS OF THE PHOENIX (US$10,986).
Meanwhile, JAN DARA, which was unranked by Box Office Mojo last week has collected US$42,862 after 2 weeks of screening.
STUDENT OF THE YEAR and BHOOT RETURNS are two new Indian films playing at GV theatres that are unranked.
For the 9th consecutive week, the box office top ten is lower compared to the same period a year ago. A total of US$1,208,796 is collected this weekend, down 7.92% from the same time last year, when a US$1,312,699 haul was collected and the no.1 film, REAL STEEL was also perched on top for a 3rd week.
