Singapore - GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 (PG13) debuts at no. 1 with US$1,751,946 (S$2,447,469) with premium options that include 3D and IMAX 3D. The opening numbers are pretty much on par with the first film, which started with US$1,785,046 (S$2,224,435) three years ago on its way to a US$4,729,358 finale.
The other wide release is South Indian blockbuster BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION (NC16), opening in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu versions island wide. Box office figures are not available.
Films in limited release include MOONLIGHT (M18) (4 screens, including the Projector), AFTERMATH (NC16) [?] (3 screens),
BATTLE OF MEMORIES 记忆大师 (PG13) (2 Cathay screens) and THE RED TURTLE (PG) with limited sessions at the Projector.
Amongst holdovers, FAST & FURIOUS 8 (PG13) now joins BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (PG) as the only films to have grossed more than US$5m so far this year. It has now amassed US$5,082,653 against BATB's US$5,315,404.
Hong Kong thriller SHOCK WAVE 拆弹专家 (PG13) is reported to have grossed an estimated US$715,820 (S$1m) after 12 days.
