Singapore - THE BATTLESHIP ISLAND (NC16) ascends to no. 1, becoming the first film to do so this year. The last non-debut new no. 1 film was SULLY (PG13), back in the weekend of 19 Sep 2016. And prior to that, TRAIN TO BUSAN (NC16) hit no. 1 in its third weekend during beginning 22 Aug last year. ISLAND's cumulative is an estimated US$744,948.
Cut for a lower rating PARADOX 杀破狼.贪狼 (NC16 Edited) is the highest debut in fourth place with an estimated US$132,763, followed by ONCE UPON A TIME 三生三世十里桃花 (PG) in fifth place, TOKYO GHOUL (NC16) in sixth place and ROUGH NIGHT (R21) in seventh (US$41,677).
Other new releases include KILL SWITCH (PG13) (3 Shaw screens) and BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB: ADIOS (PG) (US$1,042) at Lido only.
Amongst holdovers, THE HITMAN'S BODYGUARD (NC16 Edited) has grossed an estimated US$516,300 while ANNABELLE: CREATION (NC16) has scared up an estimated US$1,888,184.
CARS 3 (PG) sneaked over the weekend and grossed US$87,824 to date. Figures for fellow sneak preview, AMERICAN MADE (M18) are not available.
