Singapore - AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON is the top earning film of 2015 with US$9,904,467 in the bank. Its S$13,844,860 gross in domestic dollars also slips the Marvel sequel into the no. 1 spot for highest grossing film of all time ahead of its predecessor, THE AVENGERS (S$13,635,176).
JURASSIC WORLD and FAST & FURIOUS 7, the year's second and third highest grossers with US$8,766,526 / S$12,489,845 and US$6,814,286 / S$9,179,593 respectively also crack the all-time list finding places at no. 4 and no. 9.
AH BOYS TO MEN 3: FROGMEN 新兵正传:蛙人专 is the top Chinese language and local film with US$5,607,373 / S$7454,722.
ATTACK ON TITAN, the first film to be released with dual ratings simultaneously is the top foreign language film grossing US$583,912 / S$816,216.
KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE, carrying a M18 rating is the highest grossing restricted movie with US$3,336,287 / S$4,430,656. This also cements the action spy pic as the top M18-rated film of all time, beating previous record holder 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE (US$2,517,937 / S$3,140,950).
Runner-up FIFTY SHADES OF GREY also cements a new record but for a R21-rated title. It grossed US$1,794,458 / S$2,383,076, beating last year's GONE GIRL which collected US$1,389,783 / S$1,822,919.
EX MACHINA is the highest grossing single print release with a US$28,663 / S$40,495 cume.
AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON is the widest release with 148 screens while IP MAN 3 叶问 3 (PG13) has the highest screen average debut with an estimated US$34,308.
FLY ME TO VENUS 星语心愿之再爱 is the year's lowest grossing film with just US$160 / S$228 worth of tickets sold. It's also the lowest ever recorded by Box Office Mojo since the website started publishing figures for Singapore's box office in 2007.
Overall, about 301 films were released (excluding Indian cinema), with an estimated total gross of US$161,808,645. The figure is probably marginally higher due to incomplete figures. Box Office Mojo only provides figures up to the final weekend (instead of the final day). Figures from some independently released films and concert movies were also not available.
Of this total, domestic films only grossed US$9,578,648 (5.92%). This includes the Hollywood action thriller HITMAN: AGENT 47, a USA-Germany-Singapore co-production and KING OF MAHJONG 麻雀王, a Singapore-Malaysia co-production.

Disclaimer:
Doing this as a hobbyist means that I only have access to whatever data
is publicly available. So do take the info here as a rough guide rather
than as an absolute.
Figures correct as of 31 Dec 2015. I'll probably do an update once all films released in 2015 have ended their run.
* still in release
Please note that Fly Me to Venus is 星语心愿之再爱 & not 十月初五的月光 which is Return of the Cuckoo.
ReplyDeleteThanks for pointing out the mistake. I've corrected it :)

Hi, I think you should rank them in order of Domestic Dollars not USD. USD should only be ranked unless you are in North America. Just like HK Box Office or China Box Office rankings, domestic currency may fluctuate but it best represents important information like admissions and readers can adjust it to ticket prices. You can go and look at HK box office websites, its always listed in their domestic currency or else you will see that when the currency is weak, box office records can never be broken. lol.
