GUARDIANS 2 blasts into theatres

Singapore - GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 (PG13) blasts into theatres on 3D and IMAX 3D this weekend.

The other wide release is South Indian blockbuster BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION (NC16), opening in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu versions island wide.

Films in limited release include MOONLIGHT (M18) (4 screens, including the Projector), AFTERMATH (NC16) (3 screens),
BATTLE OF MEMORIES 记忆大师 (PG13) (2 Cathay screens) and THE RED TURTLE (PG) with limited sessions at the Projector.

FAST 8 grosses US$4.48m in 2 weeks

Sinapore - FAST & FURIOUS 8 (PG13) grossed a further US$1,030,067 for a US$4,487,605 cume as it spends a second weekend at no. 1.

The highest debut is Hong Kong thriller SHOCK WAVE 拆弹专家 (PG13). GIFTED (PG13) (US$138,743) and FABRICATED CITY (NC16) (US$37,438) follow behind.

Newcomers playing on limited screens include THE LOST CITY OF Z (PG13) (8 screens), GOING IN STYLE (NC16) (9 screens) and THE MYSTERIOUS FAMILY 神秘家族 (PG13) (7 screens).

Opening on a single screen at Lido with limited sessions are BITTER HARVEST (NC16) and BRIMSTONE (R21).

FAST 8 to retain no. 1 crown

Singapore - FAST & FURIOUS 8 (PG13) will repeat at no. 1 this weekend. The widest debut will be Hong Kong thriller SHOCK WAVE 拆弹专家 (PG13). GIFTED (PG13) and FABRICATED CITY (NC16) will also bow island wide.

The other new releases are GOING IN STYLE (NC16) (9 screens), THE LOST CITY OF Z (PG13) (8 screens) and THE MYSTERIOUS FAMILY 神秘家族 (PG13) (7 screens). Opening on a single screen at Lido with limited sessions are BITTER HARVEST (NC16) and BRIMSTONE (R21).

FAST 8 opens with US$2.84m

Singapore - FAST & FURIOUS 8 (PG13) zooms to no. 1 with premium options that include 3D and IMAX 3D. It grossed US$2,841,288 from 124 screens for a US$22,914 screen average. While the weekend gross is the highest in the Furious series, the screen average actually trails that of FAST & FURIOUS 6 (US$35,363, 65 screens), THE FAST & THE FURIOUS 5 (US$27,015, 40 screens) and FAST & FURIOUS 7 (US$26,379, 107 screens).

POP AYE (M18), the fifth local release of the year and THE VOID (M18) debut in the top ten with 5 and 8 screens respectively. Other new releases include THE DEVOTION OF SUSPECT X 嫌疑人X的献身 (PG13) (3 Cathay screens) and MEAN DREAMS (PG13) at Lido only.

Singapore - FAST & FURIOUS 8 (PG13) will zoom into cinemas this weekend with premium formats that include 3D and IMAX 3D.

POP AYE (M18), the fifth local release of the year will open on 4 GV screens and the Projector. Other debuts with limited screens opening are THE VOID (M18) (8 screens), THE DEVOTION OF SUSPECT X 嫌疑人X的献身 (PG13) (3 Cathay screens) and MEAN DREAMS (PG13) at Lido only.

THE BOSS BABY retains no. 1 spot

Singapore - THE BOSS BABY (PG) maintains its box office crown with a second weekend at no. 1. An additional US$670,139 pushes it to a US$1,735,543 cume.

Former champ BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (PG) ascends a notch back up to no. 2. The year's highest grossing film has now grossed US$4,997,635.

SMURFS: THE LOST VILLAGE (PG) is the highest debut at no. 4 with US$276,080 (including 3D).

BOSS BABY edges out GHOST IN THE SHELL for #1

Singapore - THE BOSS BABY (PG) edges over GHOST IN THE SHELL (PG13) for the number one spot at the box office over the weekend. BOSS grossed US$861,092 while GHOST accumulated US$852,491 including sneaks. Both are also available in 3D, with GHOST also playing on IMAX 3D.

Debuts playing on limited screens include GOODBYE MR. LOSER 令伯特烦恼 (PG13) (7 GV screens), WHO KILLED COCK ROBIN? 目击者 (M18) (7 screens), FROM A HOUSE ON WILLOW STREET (NC16 Edited) (3 Shaw screens), THE ZOOKEEPER'S WIFE (NC16) (3 screens) and THE SENSE OF AN ENDING (NC16) (Lido and Projector).
