BLACK PANTHER spends 2nd Week at No. 1

Singapore - BLACK PANTHER (PG) holds onto no. 1 for a second week with a US$4,794,850 gross to date.

CNY holdovers WONDERFUL! LIANG XI MEI THE MOVIE 旺得福 梁细妹 (PG) and MONSTER HUNT 2 捉妖记 2 (PG) (US$969,422 cume) also continue to hold their positions at no. 2 and no. 3 respectively while OPERATION RED SEA 红海行动 (M18) climbs up one spot to no. 5 (est. US$257,673 cume).

DETECTIVE CHINATOWN 2 唐人街探案 2 (NC16) is the highest debut at no. 4 with an estimated US$136,415. GAME NIGHT (NC16) and LADY BIRD (M18) are the other top ten debuts.

New titles unlikely to dethrone the King

Singapore - BLACK PANTHER (PG) will continue to dominate the box office this weekend while newcomers GAME NIGHT (NC16), DETECTIVE CHINATOWN 2 唐人街探案 2 (NC16), LADY BIRD (M18) and MARROWBONE (PG13) open on multiple screens.

FREE! TIMELESS MEDLEY - THE BOND (PG) opens at FilmGarde cinemas while WONDER WHEEL (NC16) starts at Lido and nex. BRAVEN (NC16) opens exclusively at Lido.

On the arthouse circuit, CITY OF GHOSTS (M18) starts at the Arts House from 25 Feb (Sun).

BLACK PANTHER leads CNY releases with US$3.2m debut

Singapore - BLACK PANTHER (PG) leads the Lunar New Year weekend with US$3,203,876 as of Sunday. The latest Marvel pic sneaked on Tuesday and opened on Wednesday. Premium options include 3D and IMAX 3D.

The other releases include WONDERFUL! LIANG XI MEI THE MOVIE 旺得福 梁细妹 (PG) (estimated US$785,540), MONSTER HUNT 2 捉妖记 2 (PG) (US$618,352), THE MONKEY KING 3 西游记之女儿国 (PG) (est. BLACK PANTHER leads charge over CNY Weekend

Singapore - As the box office heads into the Chinese New Year weekend, a few films get an early head start. BLACK PANTHER (PG) kicks off with sneaks on Tuesday (Feb 13) and opens on Wednesday (Feb 14). Premium options include 3D and IMAX 3D.

WONDERFUL! LIANG XI MEI THE MOVIE 旺得福 梁细妹 (PG) and THE MONKEY KING 3 西游记之女儿国 (PG) sneak on Wednesday and open on Thursday (Feb 15). LXM is the first local release of the year.

A BEAUTIFUL MOMENT 我的情敌女婿 (NC16) and AGENT MR. CHAN 栋笃特工 捉妖记 (PG13) open on Thursday. OPERATION RED SEA 红海行动 (M18) and MONSTER HUNT 2 捉妖记 2 (PG) open on Friday (Feb 16).

LADY BIRD (M18) sneaks over the weekend (including the Projector).

MAZE RUNNER 3 spends 3rd Week at #1

Singapore - MAZE RUNNER: THE DEATH CURE (PG13) spends a third week at no. 1.

The highest debut is FIFTY SHADES FREED (R21) at no. 2 with US$262,354 from 12 screens (including sneaks). WINCHESTER (PG13) and THE 15:17 TO PARIS (PG13) also debut in the top ten.

Other releases include WONDERSTRUCK (PG) and BASMATI BLUES (PG).

Last year's GET OUT (NC16) gets a re-release on Cathay screens ahead of the Oscars.

WINCHESTER, FREED and 15:17 lead new releases

Singapore - WINCHESTER (PG13), FIFTY SHADES FREED (R21) and THE 15:17 TO PARIS (PG13) open wide. FREED is also available in IMAX at Lido.

Other debuts include WONDERSTRUCK (PG) and BASMATI BLUES (PG).

Last year's GET OUT (NC16) gets a re-release on Cathay screens ahead of the Oscars.

Next week, a trio of films get an early head start, led by BLACK PANTHER (PG) which sneaks on Feb 13 and opens on Feb 14. THE MONKEY KING 3 西游记女儿国 (TBA) and WONDERFUL! LIANG XI MEI 旺得福梁细妹 (PG) sneaks on Feb 14. 

BLACK PANTHER will also play on 3D and IMAX 3D screens. LXM is the first local release of the year.

MAZE RUNNER 3 #1 for a 2nd week

Singapore - MAZE RUNNER: THE DEATH CURE (PG13) leads the box office for a second weekend. It's still running on 91 screens and has grossed US$1,695,715 to date.

THE SHAPE OF THE WATER (M18) is the highest debut at no. 2 with an estimated US$128,807 from 15 screens. DEN OF THIEVES (M18) is the only other top ten entrant at no. 4 with US$97,386 from 26 screens.

Other releases include THE EX-FILE 3: THE RETURN OF THE EXES 前任3:再见前任 (NC16), KICKBOXER: RETALIATION (PG13), I, TONYA (M18), YOUTH 芳华 (NC16), 1987: WHEN THE DAY COMES (NC16) and LOVING VINCENT (M18).

Singapore - DEN OF THIEVES (M18) leads the pack of debuts that include THE SHAPE OF WATER (M18), THE EX-FILE 3: THE RETURN OF THE EXES 前任3:再见前任 (NC16), KICKBOXER: RETALIATION (PG13), I, TONYA (M18), YOUTH 芳华 (NC16), 1987: WHEN THE DAY COMES (NC16) and LOVING VINCENT (M18).

Both TONYA and VINCENT are also screening at the Projector. HAPPY ENDS (NC16) screens exclusively at the Arts House from Feb 4 through 11.

A Sing-Along version of THE GREATEST SHOWMAN (PG) opens exclusively at Lido as the film enters its fifth week of screening. The musical ascended to the top spot last week.

The re-release of GET OUT (NC16) starts with sneaks over the weekend.
