THE MARTIAN beats PAN to No. 1

Singapore - Matt Damon in THE MARTIAN holds on to the number one spot for a second weekend as the new blockbuster contender PAN (PG) starring Hugh Jackman fails to steal the box office gold. Premium formats for both films include 3D.

PAN grossed US$548,958 from 52 screens with an average of US$10,557 - the highest amongst all films by a slim margin over THE MARTIAN's US$10,007.

Debuts within the top ten include thriller PAY THE GHOST (PG13) starring Nicolas Cage and Japanese crime drama HERO (PG).

Other new releases include biopic drama STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON (M18), Japanese anime BORUTO: THE NARUTO MOVIE (PG) and the single screen release BOULEVARD (R21) starring the late Robin Williams.

Amongst holdovers, LOST IN HONG KONG 港囧 achieved a rare feat by grossing 19.5% more than the previous weekend. The Chinese comedy has grossed US$162,237 to date.
