Singapore - MAGIC MIKE XXL (M18) looks set to challenge TERMINATOR GENISYS for the top spot this coming weekend.
GENISYS held onto the top spot last week with US$653,814. A 50% drop will give it US$326,907 for its third weekend.
The first MAGIC MIKE started with US$175,655 three years back. The sequel is likely to open bigger, but may not challenge fellow M18-rated Hollywood flick, TED 2's US$580,357 opening from last week.
If Channing Tatum and the boys make it to the top, it'll be the third M18-rated film to do so this year after AMERICAN SNIPER and KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE.
Other new releases include Chen Kaige's edited for PG13 version of MONK COMES DOWN THE MOUNTAIN 道士下山; HOLLYWOOD ADVENTURES 横冲直撞好莱坞 (NC16); SURVIVOR (PG13); BURYING THE EX (NC16) and JU-ON 4: THE FINAL CURSE (PG13).
Speciality releases include Japanese anime CRAYON SHINCHAN: MY MOVING STORY! CACTUS ATTACK! (PG13) at selected Golden Village screens and British sci-fi thriller EX MACHINA (M18) at the Projector. BAAHUBALI (NC16), touted as the most expensive Indian film ever also opens this week.
