SINGAPORE - RIO 2 debuts at no. 1 with US$725,046 from 47 screens, including 3D.
Last weekend's reigning champion CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER grossed another US$652,812 as it drops down to the runner-up spot. The Marvel Studios pic, which is also the year's top film by far has grossed US$5,175,086 to date. It's trailing 10.89% behind fellow post-Avengers sequel pic THOR: THE DARK WORLD, which had grossed US$5,807,849 by its third weekend on its way to a US$6,300,035 final. CAP 2 looks likely to finish near that final tally as well.
Other debuts include the edited M18 version of SABOTAGE (US$116,403/22 screens); ENEMY (US$25,167/7 screens); CUBAN FURY (figures unavailable/4 screens); THE TRUTH ABOUT BEAUTY 整容日記 (figures unavailable/3 screens); THE FACE OF LOVE (US$5,221/2 screens) and THE ATTACK (US$1,105/1 screen).
Overall, the top ten films sold US$2,229,173 worth of tickets, a 20.7% dip from the last weekend but a slight 0.01% increase from the same frame last year when OBLIVION debut at no. 1.
