Singapore - Likely to lead the first box office weekend of 2015 is SEVENTH SON, the PG13 special effects driven fantasy adventure opening on New Year's Eve (also in 3D and IMAX 3D).
All other new films open on New Year's Day - including two M18 titles - the Thai action pic VENGEANCE OF AN ASSASSIN and the drama SERENA starring Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper. Also new is TRASH (PG13) from Stephen Daldry, the director of BILLY ELLOIT and the American indie pic THE DISAPPEARANCE OF ELEANOR RIGBY: THEM (PG13; released as a single film in Singapore).
Two titles sneak during the weekend: Tsui Hark's THE TAKING OF TIGER MOUNTAIN 智取威虎山 (NC16; available locally in 2D only) and the first local film of the year: Lee Thean-Jeen's BRING BACK THE DEAD 招魂 (PG13).
