JURASSIC WORLD debuts to US$4.06m!

17 Jun 2015

Singapore - JURASSIC WORLD opens to US$4,066,681 from 116 screens for a muscular US$31,398 screen average. Figures include Wednesday sneaks and premium formats like 3D and IMAX 3D.

In local currency, it sets a new record for the 3rd biggest first 4-day gross (S$4,897,671 excluding sneaks) behind TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION (S$5,211,007) and AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON (S$4,962,821).

Korean horror THE TUNNEL is reported to have grossed US$10,572 from 6 screens. Box office numbers for the other debuts - comedy BAD JOHNSON and bio-drama LOVE & MERCY are not available.

Amongst holdovers, INSIDIOUS: CHAPTER 3 holds onto the runner-up spot and scares up a further US$234,744 from 29 screens for a US$922,763 cume.

Former 2-week box office champ SAN ANDREAS drops to 3rd place with US$163,560 from 29 screens for a US$2,177,217 gross to date.

The Melissa McCarthy espionage comedy SPY holds up well in its 4th weekend with another US$66,276 from 20 screens for a US$1,148,859 collection. Also in its 4th weekend, TOMORROWLAND grosses another US$32,386 from 15 screens for a US$1,898,606 total.

In their 2nd week, ENTOURAGE rounds up US$25,795 from a reported 26 screens for a US$135,864 total to date; while the Bradley Cooper and Emma Stone romance comedy ALOHA might have grossed US$25,795 for a US$120,949 total. (Note: Highly unusual that the screen count for ENTOURAGE went up in its 2nd week. Also very strange that both ENTOURAGE and ALOHA are reported to have grossed the same amount. A case of error perhaps?)

In their 5th week, MAD MAX: FURY ROAD grosses another US$16,250 from 10 screens for a US$1,203,722 total; while PITCH PERFECT 2 sings up another US$9,383 from 7 screens for a US$2,263,443 cume.

AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON drops out of the top ten and is now in its 8th week. It collects another US$7,199 from 7 screens for a US$9,840,600 final.
