SINGAPORE - THE EXPENDABLES 2 maintains its pole position with another US$560K as it grossed more than all the other eight new films (listed by Box Office Mojo) combined. It has collected US$1.98m to date and is now the 15th highest grosser of the year.
All the new films debut with mild to disastrous results. Leading the pack is THE WATCH (US$178K) at no. 2, followed by THE APPARITION (US$140K) at no. 4 and IN THE COLD LIGHT OF DAY (US$89K) at no. 6.
KATY PERRY: PART OF ME, IRON SKY, HOTARU NO HIKARI, GIRL IN PROGRESS and MARLEY are the other debuts, with PART OF ME being the biggest bomb of the year as it grossed a measly US$31,777 from 28 screens. Its screen average of US$1,135 is the lowest for a multiple print release this year. Missed out by Box Office Mojo is RED LIGHT REVOLUTION, a single print release.
Meanwhile, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES has inched passed THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN to become the year’s 2nd highest grosser with US$7m in the bank. It's also the top grossing non-3D film of all time.
As for GREEDY GHOST, it has grossed US$444,966 to date - making it the 3rd highest grossing local film of the year and the 5th highest grossing Mandarin release overall.
