IP MAN 4 kicks SKYWALKER off top spot

Singapore - IP MAN 4: THE FINALE《叶问4:完结篇》 (PG13 Edited) and STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER (PG13 Edited) swap positions as the Donnie Yen action pic rises to claim the top spot.

SKYWALKER grossed an additional US$625,232 for a US$2,786,397 cume. The latest figures for IP MAN 4 are not available, but it had already overtaken SKYWALKER as of Christmas (25 Dec).

SPIES IN DISGUISE (PG) is the highest debut at no. 4 with US$309,337. CATS (PG) comes in at no. 6 with US$86,353 from 35 screens for a US$125,056 total, including previews. OFFICIAL SECRETS (NC16) is the third new film coming in at no. 8.

Singapore - STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER (PG13 Edited) blasted into theatres island wide and collected US$1,479,646 to triumph at no. 1. Premium options included 3D and IMAX 3D.

IP MAN 4: THE FINALE《叶问4:完结篇》 (PG13 Edited) sneaked on Thursday evening and opened on Friday (20 Dec). It's the second highest debut this past weekend with an estimated US$1.25m (S$1.7m).

PERFECT NANNY (M18) was the only other new film that opened. It screened exclusively at Lido.

Among holdovers, JUMANJI: THE NEXT LEVEL (PG) has grossed US$3,989,133;  FROZEN II (PG) has collected US$5,580,279 and KNIVES OUT (PG13 Edited) has taken US$72,176.

STAR WARS: TROS is the 15th edited release of the year, with no indication if an uncut version with a more restrictive rating has been classified.

IP MAN 4 is the 16th edited release of the year, and the 8th in which a passed clean version is shelved in lieu of an edited version catering to a wider audience. 

JUMANJI: THE NEXT LEVEL bounty now at US$3.33m

Singapore - ANGEL HAS FALLEN (NC16) lies at no. 1 for a second weekend. The Gerard Butler pic has grossed US$4,013,002 to date.

REVENGE OF THE PONTIANAK (PG13) leads five new films into the top ten. PONTIANAK, the 6th local film to screen in cinemas this year from directors Glen Goei and Gavin Yap opens with an estimated US$180,100.

Other top ten debuts include 47 METERS DOWN: UNCAGED (PG13) (US$128,472), DORA AND THE LOST CITY OF GOLD (PG), THE BRAVEST《烈火英雄》(PG13) (est. US$68,252) and SANGKAR (PG13).

The IMAX version of FREE SOLO (PG13) opens at 3 IMAX screens from 24 August, Saturday. The 2D version was released at the Projector earlier this year from 24 February.
